Bengbu Medical College

Bengbu Medical College is national medical college in Bengbu, Anhui Province, of the People's Republic of China, directly supervised under the jurisdiction of Education Bureau of Anhui Province. The college was founded in July 1958 with support from the Shanghai Second Medical College and Anhui Medical College.
The college owns 1 national characteristic specialty and 7 provincial characteristic specialties. And it has 3 provincial key laboratories: Anhui Province Key Laboratory of Infection and Immunology, Anhui Province Key Laboratory of Tissue Transplant, and Anhui Provincial Laboratory of Clinical Foundation of Respiratory System Diseases.

The college enrolls students from 18 provinces of the country. Now nearly 13,000 undergraduates and 1000 postgraduates are studying in the college. There are nearly 4,000 staff members working for the college and its directly affiliated hospitals, in which 771 have senior professional titles including 340 professors and associate professors. The college has 2 directly affiliated hospitals. As the largest comprehensive hospital in North Anhui, the First Affiliated Hospital is one of the first group of Class A hospitals assessed by the Ministry of Health, and a national clinical pharmacology base. The Second Affiliated Hospital is also a Class A hospital integrating medical care, teaching, science research, prevention, and rehabilitation.

Bengbu Medical College has 11 non-directly affiliated hospitals, more than 170 teaching hospitals, practice hospitals and practive bases, which are located in cities like Beijing, Shanghai, etc. The college actively conducts international academic exchanges, having set up cooperative relationship with some universities and academic groups in US, France, Germany, Japan and Australia and sending teachers abroad for research and training. Since its establishment the college has cultivated 50,000 medical professionals, including Liu Depei, an academician of China Engineering Academy, and Duan Shumin, an academician of China Science Academy, who have contributed a lot to the medicare and economic development of the society.
